Question 1

How much does a 2017 Honda Odyssey cost in NZ?

Accepted Answer

Typical asking prices for a 2017 Honda Odyssey in New Zealand range from about $18,000 to $38,000. This is a price guide, not a live stock listing.

Question 2

What are common problems with a 2017 Honda Odyssey in NZ?

Accepted Answer

Power sliding doors; NZ-new 5AT vs JDM CVT vs JDM hybrid; K24W cold-start rattle (Earth Dreams 2.4); Underbody rust and door bottoms. Check the year guide for detail and inspect these on any car you are considering.

Question 3

What should I check when buying a used 2017 Honda Odyssey in NZ?

Accepted Answer

Request as much service history as possible - regular servicing matters more than promises from the seller. Test the automatic cold from startup — any shudder, hesitation or warning lights on first takeoff should be investigated further. Inspect lower sills, wheel arches and underbody for rust - especially on coastal or South Island cars. Check all electronics work - climate control, infotainment, reverse camera, and any safety tech fitted. Confirm Honda Sensing actually works on a test drive — camera plus radar. Same sliding-door test as earlier RC cars; age does not make the motors cheaper to replace. Run a PPSR check and review WOF history before buying. Compare condition and service records across listings - the best-value example is often the best-kept one not the cheapest.

Question 4

Is the 2017 Honda Odyssey a good used buy in New Zealand?

Accepted Answer

The 2017 Honda Odyssey is the facelifted 5th-gen RC. Lighting and bumper design change, and Honda Sensing (collision mitigation, adaptive cruise, lane keep) becomes much easier to find — especially on JDM Absolute Sensing and later NZ-new grades.
